Safer Neighbourhood officers in Holmebrook and Rother on hand at official opening of community gym

Posted on 1st October 2015

Safer Neighbourhood officers in Holmebrook and Rother are set to meet local residents and offer sports activities at the official opening of a community gym.

PCSOs Darryl Hegarty and Judith Cornwall from the area’s Safer Neighbourhood team will be on hand at the launch event of the Langer Field outdoor gym on Saturday, October 3.

Local people will be able to meet and chat to officers about any issues or concerns in the community and the team will also be hosting football activities for youngsters.

PCSO Hegarty said: “The new outdoor gym equipment is the first of its kind in the Chesterfield area and will offer accessibility to people with disabilities and provide a free alternative outlet for exercise for the local area with the aim of helping residents to lead a more healthy and active lifestyle.

“PCSO Cornwall and I are happy to be going along to the launch event. We hope to meet and speak to many local people and offer our support to the project.”

The outdoor gym is set to be dedicated to retired local councillor, Stewart Bradford who worked in the Rother Ward community for 28 years.

The event is taking place from 1pm to 4pm and everyone is welcome to attend.
