This Safer Neighbourhood area covers Alvaston. It belongs to the Derby East policing section.Alvaston is a residential estate located within the Derby City Council area. It is an estate comprising of primary schools, mini shops and public houses. Alvaston is situated approximately three-to-four miles from Derby city centre. This area also covers the Pride Park business estate, including Derby County Football Club.

Actions to be taken are as follows:
  • Operation Fireforge has been created to tackle this issue with a dedicated team of officers.
  • High visibility patrols in hotspot locations
  • Promote crime prevention methods to owners of targeted vehicles
  • Undertake property marking events.
  • Encourage residents to report persons or vehicles behaving suspiciously using 999 if occurring at the time.
  • Encourage use of 101 and Crimestoppers to give names of offenders.

  • High visibility patrols in affected areas at hotspot times.
  • Engage with the public and encourage them to report incidents.
  • Utilise social media for intelligence gathering.
  • Evidence gathering using technical equipment.
  • Working with relevant partner agencies to develop strategic responses.
  • Consider operations with neighbouring Beats, Specials and other policing units.
  • Encourage the use of Crimestoppers
  • Target the individuals and addresses that cause most distress for residents
  • Work with housing associations to ensure that nuisance motorbikes are not stored within properties.
  • Develop a training package for year 10 & 11 students that highlights the dangers and consequences of this activity.
