We were called to reports of a collision between a motorcyclist and a van close to the junction of the A6 at Bray Hill and Burley Lane at 7.30pm last night (October 24).
The road was closed and paramedics treated the motorcyclist for injuries he sustained as a result of the collision.
The rider was pronounced deceased en route to hospital.
A man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving in relation to the collision.
We have also referred the incident to the Independent Office for Police Conduct due to contact between the motorcyclist and police officers following the collision but prior to his death.
There was no police pursuit prior to the collision.
